I’m so excited so be able to tell you all about a different type of project we were involved in.
Sunshine coast life style Photography Anna Gilbert approached us back in March about writing a song for her up and coming T.V and web Advertising campaign.
I of course, I jumped at the op! and so glad I did, it was so much fun!
Anna’s photography style is gorgeous! She is a wedding and family photographer and mother to a VERY cute and independently minded 4 year old (Dante - isn't he the cutest!)

Playing both of these roles makes her very much a master of her style AND method.
Her on location shoots take her from the warm sun kissed beaches and dreamy field’s of the Sunshine Coast to the Gold coast. She also does the most amazing newborn shoots in her Marcoola studio!
As strange as it is to say, if Anna and I were star-crossed lovers in a past life it wouldn’t surprise me because we were creative match made to be heaven.
You see... initially Anna sent me a quick email inquiry. She wanted a melodic lullaby or a folky feel acoustic song referencing memories. She was after something that was ‘organic’ rather than a typical generic commercial style of song. She wanted something emotional and unique to match her photography.
She was shown music samples at the T.V station but they didn’t have the sound she wanted and they were really pricey. So she simply inquired to find out if this was something we could do.
I set an email back saying yes course we could we could. Funny things is though, I was so excited by the concept of writing this song I stated AND finished the song before I had even received an email back from Anna confirming her request, let alone a detailed brief!
It came easily to me (maybe because I have worked in the photography industry but mostley beacsue I'm a big sap and I just LOVE photograph and storytelling and the how the two intertwine). So when I took a look at what makes family photos so special and what makes Anna’s style so beautiful the concept for the song came to life almost immediately so I couldn’t help but go with it!
I found the heart of the song in the beauty of innocence and parent’s instinct to always want to protect their children.
Parent’s hope to keep their child safe and warm everyday of their lives, just as they did when they are tiny, even though, as every parent knows one day they will have to let their children go.
Photos are a beautiful reminder of that amazing time a parent’s life and in their relationship with their children. These images carry not only family history but added reminder that, no matter what happens in life a child can always return to find the same unconditional love, warmth and security they were given as a child. The love of a parent is as timeless.

Anna’s images really capture a genuine sense of warmth, purity, innocence and humanness in a very pretty, romanticised way. I knew the progression for the song had to be sweet, heart warming and uplifting which is actually a perfect description of her work. See! we were just meant for each other! He he..
So when Anna confirmed she was happy for me to write her song almost two weeks after I had written it, I was pretty relieved!
We met for coffee and I explained the songs concept, read her the lyrics and she listened to the demo. Without my knowledge the videographer (Ben from innovative media) was planning to feature shots of sand through tiny fingers, which coincidently married up perfectly with the main line of the song “If only I could keep you in the palm of my hand”. When there were tears from Anna and a declaration of perfectness I knew I was always meant to write this song.
